About me
I am a Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Physiology at the University of Westminster and a CASES-accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist. I began my career in the fitness industry before pursuing a career in academia and sport science.
Over the years, I have worked with professional and amateur athletes across a range of sports, including athletics, motorsport, and rowing. One of the highlights of my career was being part of Andy Murray’s support team. My dual role as an academic and practitioner allows me to bring real-world insights into the classroom and research lab, ensuring that my teaching and studies are grounded in practical application. I regularly engage with the media to discuss topics related to sport science and fitness, helping to translate research and best practice for a wider audience.
Teaching
With over twelve years of teaching experience in higher education, I have developed a high level of specialist knowledge from formal education alongside my academic and professional experiences. My key responsibilities across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes include leading sport and exercise physiology modules (teaching, assessment, developing course content, etc.), supervising dissertation students, and personal tutoring.
Research
My current research focuses on how sleep influences physical performance. The aim of this research is to devise strategies to mitigate performance decrements following periods of sleep disruption and circadian rhythm misalignment.
