About me
Dr Rose Hayden is a Historian specialising in twentieth-century cultural, conflict, media and feminist studies, with expertise in press representation and the politics of narrative. Prior to her doctoral research, Rose studied History and Politics and began her career in political campaigning and policy at Hacked Off, and later supported leading media law firms as a research analyst. She worked on matters relating to phone hacking, unlawful information gathering and press reform, while advising individuals affected by press abuse and advocating in Parliament for greater press accountability.
Teaching
Rose’s teaching focuses on twentieth-century history and spans Irish, British, and U.S. contexts through the lens of culture, power, and identity. She teaches across modules including Swinging London: Youth, Race, and Culture in the 1960s, The World Remade: Global Perspectives on the Long Nineteenth Century, Special Subjects in History: The Troubles and History, Memory and Belonging.
Research
Rose's research centres around gender, conflict and the press with a particular focus on cultural British and Irish history, and the Northern Ireland 'Troubles'.
