About me
I have a design background, spending the first half of my career as a womenswear designer across a variety of market levels, working in the UK, as a freelancer in Paris, and latterly for a design house in Munich, specialising in evening wear.
Following an MA in Sustainable Design, my interest has shifted to exploring how fashion and related industries can adjust to and meet the challenges presented by sustainable & ethical practice.
A further, connected area of exploration and application arising from the MA is the connection between engagement with nature, especially the power of plants, to maintain psychological wellbeing.
Teaching
Since entering the world of Higher Education, I have spent the past 14 years teaching across a wide range of fashion courses, from Marketing & PR through to Entrepreneurship. My area of greatest interest and focus is that of the future of fashion from a sustainable & ethical perspective, hence I am attached to modules which explore this perspective in depth.
Research
My research takes a hands-on approach to exploring the sustainable and waste-avoidance possibilities of hand and digital printing on textiles, taking natural forms and plant life as inspirational subject matter.
