About me

Dr Maria Fotiadou is a Lecturer at the University of Westminster, specialising in Health and Positive Psychology. She works in Psychology and Counselling and collaborates with the Psychology & Nutrition teams as well as the Law School.

She has extensive experience working with people facing a wide range of mental health challenges, including stress, anxiety, and depression, as well as chronic health conditions such as cancer, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and arthritis. Her primary research interests lie in applied areas of Health and Positive Psychology, with a particular focus on optimism and pessimism, resilience, happiness, and compassion in relation to mental health and well-being. Her research background includes the quality of life, well-being, and coping strategies of families dealing with cancer. 

She has facilitated of more than 200 workshops, talks and seminars in the UK, Greece and online across the USA and Europe, focusing on mental health, happiness, and overall wellbeing.
