About me
Sergio de Cesare is a Professor of Digital Business and heads the Centre for Digital Business Research at the University of Westminster. His research focuses on foundational ontology and its application to enterprise modelling, methods for engineering and integrating information systems, and ways in which emerging digital technologies can create new business opportunities. He has received research funding from UKRI and the British Academy to investigate problems related to ontological modelling, business process management, digital twins and digital resilience. Professor de Cesare is a member of the EPSRC Peer Review College and is a Senior Editor of Information Technology and People (an ABS 3 journal). From 2009 to 2014 he served as Managing Editor of the European Journal of Information Systems (ABS 4). He has also been a member of numerous conference programme committees, including the International Conference on Conceptual Modelling (ER) and Formal Ontology in Information Systems (FOIS), the flagship conferences in their respective disciplines. He is the programme committee co-chair of FOIS 2026. He received a PhD in Information Systems from LUISS Guido Carli in Rome (Italy) and a Laurea cum laude in Economics and Business from the University of Bari (Italy).
Teaching
