About me
Dr Yunxu Chen is a Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at the University of Westminster and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She obtained her PhD in Finance from the University of Birmingham in 2023, where she also gained teaching experience across finance and accounting-related modules.
Teaching
Dr Chen is the course leader for BA Accounting and Business Management and also leads postgraduate modules in Capstone and Wealth Management. She has experience teaching a wide range of finance and accounting-related modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her teaching connects financial and accounting theory with practical applications while developing students’ quantitative, empirical research and analytical skills. She places a strong emphasis on employability by helping students apply their academic knowledge to real-world business challenges and develop the professional skills needed for careers in accounting, finance, and business management.
Research
Dr Chen’s research interests span corporate innovation, empirical corporate finance, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues, and sustainable finance. Her research has been presented at international academic conferences, and her work has been published in The European Journal of Finance.
