About me
Alvaro Caiza is a lecturer in media, marketing, and emerging technologies, specializing in AR/VR, artificial intelligence and digital innovation. With a background in Computer Science and a Master’s in Interactive Media, he has worked on multiple projects for various clients, blending technology with creative storytelling.
His experience includes founding a social media agency, developing digital applications, and leading interactive projects that merge fashion, marketing, and technology. He has also worked on AI 3D avatar development and immersive experiences, exploring new ways to engage audiences in digital spaces.
At University of Westminster, Alvaro teaches on the Fashion Marketing and Promotion course, where he helps students navigate the evolving digital landscape. His approach emphasizes hands-on learning, industry collaboration, and innovative strategies that prepare students for the future.
Teaching
Alvaro is a passionate educator, constantly seeking to bring the latest trends and technologies into the classroom. He loves teaching modules where students can transform ideas into tangible, creative outputs that live beyond the classroom. His focus is on practical applications, encouraging students to think critically, experiment boldly, and produce work with real-world impact.
His innovative approach has enabled him to achieve Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), recognising his excellence in teaching and learning support in higher education. Highlights of his teaching include:
- Co-leading a Google Design Sprint Hackathon at Westminster, guiding student teams in prototyping AR/AI-based solutions.
- Presenting at the Westminster Learning & Teaching Symposium, co-delivering a session titled “AI and Education for the Creative Industries.”
- Presenting at The Square – Manchester Metropolitan University's I-TELL conference, sharing insights on Understanding AI in Education and Creative Industries.
- Teaching a range of modules such as Emerging Media, Digital Content Creation, and Digital Fashion Marketing, where students transform ideas into real-world creative outputs.
Alvaro’s classes are designed to bridge theory and practice, encouraging students to experiment boldly and develop work that prepares them for careers at the cutting edge of fashion, media, and technology.
