About me

Charles joined Westminster in 2005 after a career in journalism, strategic consulting and digital design and software development. At Westminster he has led the development of three Masters programmes, delivered in both the United Kingdom and the Peoples’ Republic of China.

He is a former course leader of the Masters in Media Management and Global Media Business. He is also a former head of postgraduate at the Westminster School of Media and Communication

He has almost 40 years’ experience writing about the media, and advising media and content organisations on strategy and policy matters. 

Between 2010 and 2012 he served as president of the European Media Management Association. 

Teaching

Charles teaches modules in media management theory and practice, organisational leadership, and film and television content development and funding. 

Research

Charles Brown's research engages with changing media business models, the impact of emergent media technologies on content industries, and strategy formation and implementation in media organisations.
