I am a Senior Lecturer in Imaging Science and Course Leader of the BSc (Hons) Clinical Photography. I have been teaching photography and imaging science at the University of Westminster since 2000. I gained my first degree in Photography in 1995 from the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, Greece. From 1993 to 1998 I worked as chief editor and technical author in photographic magazines in Greece and I published several technical articles in photography. I continued my studies at the University of Westminster where I gained my MSc in Digital Imaging in 1999. I gained a research studentship from the School of Communication and Creative Industries at the University of Westminster to study towards a PhD in Imaging Science, which I completed in 2004. My research was focused on the quality of displayed images viewed across the Internet. I also hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education and I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
My research interests are in imaging systems and colour science and my recent work is in colour reproduction of medical images. For my research work I received the Royal Photographic Society’s Selwyn Award in 2004. I am an Associate member (ARPS) and Accredited Imaging Scientist (AIS) of the Royal Photographic Society and I have been Assistant Editor of the Imaging Science Journal. My research work has been presented at many national and international symposia and has been published in related journals. I am also the editor and co-author of ‘Langford’s Advanced Photography’, 7th and 8th editions. The book has been translated into five languages including Mandarin, Spanish and Italian. I am also a contributing author of the ‘Manual of Photography and Digital Imaging’, 10th edition.
I have taught at undergraduate and postgraduate level and I am also involved in PhD supervision. I currently teach in the BSc Photography and Digital Imaging Technologies and BSc Clinical Photography courses.
