Westminster Professional Language Centre has been awarded €23,000 to participate in an Erasmus+ project with a consortium of universities (Reading, Leipzig, Perugia, Siena), Cultural Institutes (Spain and Germany) and education ministries (Rioja, Tenerife), under the leadership of the Goethe Institut in London.

The project will lead to the design of an assessment tool for primary school children in the form of an e-game (called the Language Magician) to measure pupil competency and progress in French, German, Italian and Spanish. The creation of a motivational tool that avoids the format of a traditional test paper is intended to encourage and develop foreign language learning in primary schools in the participating countries.

Westminster Professional Language Centre already has a contract with the Greater London Authority to support the development of language teachers in primary and secondary schools through Network for Languages London. Domini Stone is the manager for Network for Languages London, on behalf of the University of Westminster.
