The University of Westminster has announced a new partnership agreement with GUS Medical & Veterinary Schools, part of Global University Systems. The partnership will give Medical Sciences BSc Honours graduates the chance to study at three of GUS’s schools, supporting those who aspire to pursue a career in medicine or veterinary medicine.
GUS Medical & Veterinary Schools offer a range of programmes, faculties and global accreditations for doctors and healthcare leaders across the US and Canada. Through this partnership, qualified Westminster graduates can pursue a structured pathway at either Saba University School of Medicine (SUSOM) in the special municipality of the Netherlands in the Caribbean, Medical University of the Americas (MUA) based on the island of Nevis in the Caribbean, or St Matthew’s University School of Medicine (SMUSOM) and based in the Cayman Islands.
The progression agreement with GUS Medical & Veterinary Schools offers eligible graduates of the University’s Medical Sciences BSc Honours course the opportunity to progress to a four-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme at one of its three Caribbean medical schools subject to meeting the relevant entry requirements, including achieving a first-class honours degree or an upper second-class honours degree (2:1) as a minimum.
Those eligible will receive a $1,000 USD (around £700 GBP) tuition scholarship per semester, totalling $10,000 USD (approximately £7,200 GBP) over the four-year programme.
Through this partnership, GUS Medical & Veterinary Schools and the University of Westminster are committed to expanding access to medical education and supporting qualified graduates as they take the next step toward becoming physicians. Upon successful completion of the medical degree, graduates wishing to practise medicine in the UK must meet the General Medical Council (GMC) requirements for registration, including the Medical Licensing Assessment (MLA), where applicable.

The partnership with GUS builds on this foundation by providing eligible graduates with a clear international pathway to further professional education in medicine or veterinary medicine.”
