The seminar series aims to continue capacity strengthening activities by bringing internationally renowned scholars to share their knowledge and expertise with a wider audience. All interested researchers and students and anyone who is interested in economic development policy issues can subscribe to the series.

Many prominent scholars have been invited to speak, including Professor Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University, Dr Danielle Resnick, Senior Research Fellow and Theme Leader on Governance at IFPRI, and Dr Karen Jackson, Assistant Head of the School of Organisations, Economy and Society at the University of Westminster.

The coronavirus pandemic has disrupted traditional modes of academic communication, with in-person conferences, seminars, and workshops being cancelled. However, these unprecedented times have also created many opportunities, encouraging people to adopt new online methods to communicate research ideas.

Speaking about the seminar series, Dr Jackson said: β€œIt has been great to collaborate with our partners from Uzbekistan and the United States to develop a global platform to discuss development policy research. With over 800 subscribers we are already seeing the much bigger reach from these kinds of joint initiatives.”
