Ana Becheru, University of Westminster alumna who graduated with an Architecture Postgraduate Diploma in RIBA Part III in 2016, has been nominated and reached the finals in the European Women in Construction and Engineering (WICE) Awards 2017.

Commenting on her success, Ana said: “I am enthused to be a Best Project Manager finalist amongst such a fine selection of European nominees, especially having been through the judging process of high profile groups represented by the RIBA Vice President, RICS Chairman and President, CIOB Deputy Chief Executive and top super brands such as Skanska, Rolls Roys, EY and Arcadis.”

The aim of WICE Awards is to make construction and engineering industries more enticing to women. They hope to create role models for women considering a career in these sectors, while encouraging companies to employ and train more women in these industries.

Speaking about her experience at University of Westminster, Ana said: “My professional development has without a doubt been a direct result of the excellent academic level at University of Westminster under the Part 3 tutoring of Stephen Brookhouse and Wilfred Achille. They have unequivocally proven a progressive approach to reaching the RIBA Chartership in 2016, and I cannot recommend this enough in terms of breaking barriers and diversifying the architectural profession at such challenging times.”

She is currently working as an Associated Director at RPS Group Plc, leading the Building Consultancy team and project management service in its London office.

Ana is a founding member of the Romanian Architecture and Urbanism Forum, and volunteers at the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust.
