Over one hundred external organisations attended the event, providing students with the opportunity to meet potential new employers and network with the wider Westminster community. Connecting students and employers for graduate career success is a key part of the Being Westminster strategy.

The event, called An Evening at Madame Tussauds: A Celebration of Your Support, gave all in attendance the opportunity to create new partnerships, strengthen existing relationships as well as explore new opportunities to support students in the rapidly changing labour market.

Dr Peter Bonfield, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University, Professor Alexandra Hughes, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement and Employability, and Professor Malcolm Kirkup, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Head of College of Westminster Business School, took the opportunity to thank the University’s supporters and provide details about the University’s exciting new employability centre to be developed at Marylebone.  The centre, at 29 Marylebone Road, will provide a focal point for the University’s employability and enterprise support, employer engagement activities, and a range of high-tech facilities to enhance student experience.

Linsey Cole, Director of Business Engagement at the University, said: “The evening was a great opportunity to thank the University’s partners and supporters. We were delighted to welcome employers and community organisations into the fantastic Madame Tussauds venue and help our students and alumni to learn about new industries and make new connections. It was exciting to hear about the 29 Marylebone Road project.”

Speaking about what he took away from the event, Abdulrahman Ibrahim, Cyber Security and Forensics MSc alumnus, said: “It was a very insightful event, where I was able to learn and get inspired by so many people. It shows the commitment by the University to provide opportunities to their students to learn more about themselves and build on skills such as networking and public speaking.”
