The University of Westminster welcomed famous alumni and industry leaders to the Westminster School of Media, Arts and Design Industry Showcase, Westminster New Talent 2018.

On Thursday 24 May, the University of Westminster welcomed employers and alumni back to the Harrow Campus for the ‘Westminster New Talent 2018’, the University’s Showcase for the creative industries. More than 80 employers, including Sky, Discovery and Endemol Shine, signed up to see innovative work, meet highly motivated students, and see if they would be a good match.

The event included screenings and work exhibitions from some of the best new fashion and graphic designers, illustrators, animators, filmmakers, advertisers, photographers, and musicians.

The showcase offered panels discussions from students, staff and alumni including recent BA Journalism alumnus and Comedian, Jack Rooke, who won outstanding media prizes such as the BBC New Talent Hotlist 2017 and the Broadcast Hot Shot 2017. Jack shared his career experience with the audience and delivered a talk on how to get recognised as talent.

The evening was presented by MA Film alumna, now TV Producer and Independent Filmmaker, Tina Ghazimorad and concluded with a reception and networking session where employers had the chance to meet artists, designers, musicians and filmmakers.

Dr Paul Dwyer, Director of Academic Enterprise for the Westminster School of Media, Arts and Design, said: “It’s fantastic that we have major companies like Sky and Discovery coming to meet students and staff to discover more about what Westminster can offer the creative industries”.
