Professor Christian Fuchs, Professor of Social Media and Director of the Communication and Media Research Institute at the University of Westminster, commented on the launch of Daisie, a new social networking app for young artists. 

Launched by Game of Thrones’ star Maisie Williams on Wednesday 1 August, Daisie hopes to be a social network for young people to make meaningful and creative connections beyond industry standards. But can it compete in a crowded marketplace in which the main concept is to ‘connect people’?

Explaining the moral obligations that Daisie will face, Professor Fuchs said in an interview for The Guardian: “A true alternative needs to be non-commercial, non-profit-oriented, privacy-friendly, minimise the collected data, and give users control over the basic settings.”
