Steven Barnett, Professor of Communications at the University of Westminster, wrote an article for The Conversation, discussing the government dictat, which obliged the BBC to reveal salaries of its top talent.

The article was republished by the Huffington Post and a comment he made on the topic was quoted in 28 domestic and international media outlets.

"I think this was a deliberate campaign to undermine and destabilize an institution that some self-interested parties would like to see weakened,” Steven Barnett said, pointing to some politicians and executives at the BBC's privately owned rivals.

Steven Barnett was also interviewed on this subject by BBC London Radio, BBC Victoria Derbyshire and Talk Radio.
