Professor Dibyesh Anand, Head of Department of Politics and International Relations, was interviewed by Iranian newspaper Tehran Times on the ongoing discrimination in India against Muslims, Christians and other religious minorities.

In his Q&A with the newspaper, Professor Anand explained that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) believes that India should transfer from a secular republic to a Hindu nation, which religious minorities struggle to accept.

He said: “When Hindu chauvinists commit violence against minorities and the ruling party politicians justify that violence and the Prime Minister maintains selective silence around it, it becomes clear that there is a state and societal impunity that the violent actors enjoy”.

He also spoke about other global relationships including the dispute between Beijing and Tibet and America’s decision to withdraw from the nuclear deal with Iran.
