Professor Andrew Linn, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research at the University of Westminster, has written a blog post for the Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI) about how the outcomes from the REF should benefit the whole university community and especially students.

In the article, Professor Linn reflects on his previous blog post for HEPI about the outcomes of the Research Excellence Framework (REF2021) announced earlier this year, and how the University of Westminster’s support of its internal community of researchers helped achieve such good results.

Following a 48% increase in the allocation of Westminster’s Quality-Related (QR) research funding based on the REF results, Professor Linn now argues that everyone in the university community, and especially students, should be able to benefit from the University’s excellent research.

He commented: “The institution must benefit from our insights and discoveries, and all colleagues must be able to gain inspiration from the debates, workshops and seminars going on around them. Research at Westminster is to be shared, not jealously guarded, and this democratic commitment applies above all to our students.”
