POLINARES, a €3 million European Union Framework 7 project, will analyse the global challenges for access to oil, gas and mineral resources over the next 30 years and propose potential scenarios and solutions for the various policy actors, including the European Union. The project includes 12 institutional partners from 9 European countries and is being coordinated by the Centre of Energy, Minerals and Petroleum Law and Policy at the University of Dundee. POLINARES started in January 2010 and will continue for 3 years. Professor Roland Dannreuther has specific responsibility for leading and developing the initial conceptual and theoretical framework for understanding the sources of conflict and tension relating to access to oil, gas, and minerals.
