Environmental sustainability is a core value of the University of Westminster. We are always looking for new ways to reduce our carbon footprint and drive a green agenda on campus.

At Harrow, we are introducing a green initiative that will provide renewable energy for the campus – a new biomass boiler system.  This system will provide heating and hot water to various parts of the campus, including the new Forum and student courtyards.

The biomass boilers are fuelled by wood pellets, a renewable energy source. The system will offset a minimum of 20% carbon emissions from the new buildings currently being developed at Harrow. It will also allow us to achieve a high environmental performance rating that is recognised worldwide.

The biomass boiler system will be built in the southern area of the campus. It will consist of an energy centre that houses the new boilers and a biomass fuel store. This investment is our latest major contribution towards achieving environmental sustainability and reflects our commitment to operating in a socially responsible manner.
