Four final-year students from the 2025 cohort recently gathered for a special meeting with the Fund’s Founder Shaukat Moledina and Chair Marc Hensen to introduce themselves, share their stories and discuss their future ambitions. The cohort includes students from across all three of Westminster’s colleges, including Law LLB Honours, Digital Marketing BA Honours, Finance BSc Honours and Computer Science BSc Honours students.

The Fund is committed to empowering women from all backgrounds through access to further education, with the mission to break down barriers and open doors for those who seek to help others. Through offering each scholar a one-time grant of £2,000, the charity gives students the chance to pursue their passion for education, acquire essential qualifications and develop the skills needed to inspire and support the next generation.

The event provided an opportunity for scholars to talk to members of the Fund leadership team and meet a previous recipient, recent Law LLB Honours alumnus Rashmi Fernando. The programme aims to support students and help them build future connections with the Fund, in the hope that one day they can give back to their communities and continue the cycle of support.

During the meeting, Moledina spoke about his personal journey, reflecting on growing up in challenging circumstances and immigrating to the UK with his family at a young age. Moledina established the Fund in loving memory of his mother Mrs M, also known as Roshankhanu Moledina, who arrived in the UK as a refugee from India and Uganda in 1972.

Westminster’s collaboration with Mrs M’s Education Fund highlights the University’s institutional commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and its long history of supporting social mobility.

About the meeting final-year Digital Marketing BA Honours student Amanda Da Silva Codea said: "Meeting the donor behind the Mrs M Scholarship was incredibly meaningful. Understanding the purpose behind everything they do, their desire to create meaningful impact and their commitment to helping us grow truly brought the foundation’s mission to life. Being in a room full of strong women with incredible stories who have all been supported by the foundation also made the experience incredibly inspiring."

Final-year Computer Science BSc Honours student Maryam Chaudhry added: “Meeting everyone and hearing the story behind the Mrs M Foundation was deeply inspiring. It created a sense of genuine connection and community that I’ve never experienced before, and I feel honoured to be part of something so meaningful.”

Simay Sali Sevik, Development Manager at the University of Westminster, said: "It was wonderful to meet this year's scholars and hear directly how Mrs M's support has helped in their final year of study. Listening to the inspiring young women further reaffirmed our belief that a little recognition and assistance at that right time, can make a significant difference in the transition from education to career. The scholars are a genuine credit to the University of Westminster who has helped develop the partnership with Mrs M's Education Fund.

“Bursaries like these go far beyond their financial value. They send a powerful message to students that someone believes in them, recognises their potential and is willing to invest in their future. We are deeply grateful to Mrs M’s Education Fund for inspiring confidence and empowering our female students to pursue their ambitions with courage
