Professor Michael Neuman, Professor of Sustainable Urbanism at the University of Westminster, was quoted in an article published by London Daily about the costs of the Streetspace programme in London.

The scheme will limit vehicles in the central zones of London during the week between 7am and 7pm and cyclists and pedestrians will have priority on one of the busiest roads in the city. The scheme was developed in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. 

Professor Neuman said: “The avoided costs of the ravages of the pandemic, economic, health and otherwise, and also the current and especially the future costs of climate change – those costs will be much greater than spending on appropriate infrastructures to improve our cities, so they'll be resilient and sustainable well into the future."
