In the interview for Exberliner, Mamou-Mani spoke about the first time he attended the Burning Man festival, an event where people come together for two weeks to live and collaboratively build sustainable communities. He first attended it in 2013 with his Architecture Master’s students from the University of Westminster.

He said: “Our first year, we brought 20 students (with my co-tutor Toby Burgess) and built “Shipwreck” (by Georgia-Rose Collard-Watson) and “Fractal Cult” (by Thanasis Korras). We were all 'virgins' (the insider’s term for people attending Burning Man for the first time).”

Speaking about his role in the documentary, Mamou-Mani later said: “As lead artist of ‘Temple Galaxia,’ I was making sure everything was on track with the team of 140 volunteers and the project which was a challenging role! I hope you will enjoy seeing the struggles and the joy behind the realisation of a piece of this size in the desert.”
