American rapper Kanye West announced on Twitter last week that he will be running for President of the United States with just four months until the election.
Professor Owens said that it “is difficult to understand what’s going on here.”

He added: “It’s not clear whether West has submitted the necessary paperwork to appear on states’ ballots, and therefore whether his 'candidacy' is serious - or a publicity stunt. At this late stage, he will have to run as an independent - and, as such, may not even be able to get on the ballot in many states.”
