On 4 March, University of Westminster students on the Investment and Risk Finance MSc course visited the London headquarters for the company Bloomberg which provides global business and financial information.

The visit provided students with a first-hand understanding of Bloomberg’s business procedures and gave them the opportunity to immerse themselves in the daily operations of a global leader for finance and technology.

The visit to Bloomberg Quarter not only enhanced students' academic learning but also facilitated meaningful networking opportunities with professionals and peers alike. During their visit, students attended guided tours and discussion panels led by industry experts James Coyle, Head of University Relations, Bloomberg for Education; and Alessandra Piovano, Senior Equity Analyst. These sessions gave students an overview of Bloomberg's involvement with cutting-edge technology, market analysis tools and global impact.

Students also had the chance to engage in conversations with Bloomberg representatives, gaining practical knowledge and insights into the complexities of financial markets, as well as invaluable insights and connections for future careers in the sector.

Dr Jason Cheng, Course Leader of the Investments and Risk Finance MSc course at the Westminster Business School, said: “We are thrilled to provide our students an opportunity to broaden their horizons by off-campus experiential learning, which can help them inspire their career paths in the evolving finance sector.”

Riya Giridhar, a student on the Investment and Risk Finance MSc course, said: “As soon as we walked into the Bloomberg Headquarters in London, we felt the energy of innovation all around us. The place is top-notch, with the latest technology and a vibe that just screams excellence. We got to learn so many things about Bloomberg and its working culture. Meeting talented people like James Coyle and Alessandra Piovano there and hearing about their work in the field was really inspiring. I'm thankful for the experience and excited to use the learnt information.”

Fellow student Sneha Telukoti said: “Visiting Bloomberg was an eye-opening experience that provided me with a deeper understanding of the industry and reaffirmed my passion for pursuing a career in finance. The opportunity to explore the office space and interact with professionals in the field was truly invaluable. I am immensely grateful for the experience and look forward to applying the insights gained during my visit to my future endeavours.”
