Talking about her research, Holly Weir said: “A combination of changes to routine and to motivation impacted significantly on what people were doing.”

She added: “I interviewed runners who said their motivation had shifted more to running for relaxation, or to explore their area or find quiet, open spaces. They spoke of finding new enjoyment in their running because of this, as well as without the previous pressures of races.”
