Larry Achiampong, who graduated from the Fine Art Mixed Media BA Honours course, was featured on the front cover of the prestigious magazine ArtReview.

The article features Achiampong’s work alongside letters that he has written to his children. The text also forms the script for his new and very personal video work which is a continuation of his ongoing series called Relic Traveller. The series is a multidisciplinary project manifesting in performance, audio, moving image and prose.

Relic Traveller advances on postcolonialism informed by technology, agency and the body, and narratives of migration. It explores past, present and future, through narratives of Pan Africanism and African diasporic identity in relation to colonialism, postcolonialism and the heightened nationalism of current times.

ArtReview is currently one of the top contemporary art magazines in the world. It is dedicated to growing the audience and reach of contemporary art and tracing the ways it connects with culture in general. The magazine is aimed at a specialist and general audience, featuring a mix of criticism, reviews, commentary and analysis together with commissioned artist projects, guides and special supplements.

Maria Bartolo, Senior Lecturer in the Westminster School of Arts, said: “Larry is an ex-student on the BA Fine Art Mixed Media course. He has shown at Tate Modern, Frieze, Somerset House, Art on The Underground and New Orleans Film Festival to name a few!

“We are so proud of Larry. He came back and did a fab talk to our students last year about his work and time at Westminster and generously then went on to do numerous tutorials with the long line of students waiting to chat to him – so inspiring!”
