Professor Catherine Loveday, Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience, was interviewed on BBC Radio 4 All in the Mind podcast to discuss The British Psychological Society’s research on giving advice to your younger self.

Speaking about what the study’s participants said, Professor Loveday explained: “They would, for example, have liked to take more educational opportunities, or in some cases maybe have even studied a little bit less than they did. They talked about relationships […] and other times it was things like money, financial decisions they’ve made but also parenting decisions.”

She further explained: “One of the things they found was that people are very likely to go back to very pivotal moments in their life and these tended to be between the ages of 10 and 30 years old, which is when we’re making very important decisions and so on […] I think you can be much more compassionate to your younger self.”
