Jointly hosted by the Westminster Staff LGBTQ+ Network and the Centre for the Study of Democracy Gender and Sexuality Studies Network, this LGBT History month event will screen the 2002 Charles Atlas documentary about the 1980s Queer cultural icon Leigh Bowery.

A leading figure of London's subculture, a widely influential performance artist and fashion trailblazer, Bowery's legacy continues to intrigue, shock and inspire.

Following the documentary, the Department of Politics and International Relations' Dr Daniel Conway will be in conversation with Bowery's biographer and best friend, Sue Tilley. Tilley, immortalised by Lucien Freud in four of his portraits and also by Boy George in the musical Taboo, will talk about Bowery, the 1980s and her more recent art work.
