We hear about what happens in prisons. But what about the people who witness it all first-hand?
What is it like to work inside a prison, and what does the job do to you?
Join us for a panel discussion exploring the realities of working in prisons, featuring insights from four people with first-hand experience of the prison system in England.
Light refreshments will be available from 5.30pm, with the panel discussion and audience Q&A taking place from 6-7:30pm. This is a free event open to the public.
Our panellists
- Clare Pearson – Former Prison Governor, featured in Channel 4’s Banged Up
- Dr Shahed Yousaf – Prison Doctor and author of Stitched Up
- Alex Burke – Former Prison Officer (adult males)
- Dr Sinem Bozkurt (PhD) – Former Prison Officer (young offenders)
The discussion will be hosted by Kaigan Carrie, Criminologist, followed by an audience Q&A.
