The Gaze - Exhibition Launch and Panel Discussion

Date 13 October 2025
Time 5:30 - 8:30pm

Join us for this exhibition and panel discussion on food and migrant entrepreneurship filled with insightful discussions, networking opportunities, and delicious Chinese and ESEA food.

The Gaze, organised by Middlesex University in collaboration with Small Business Research + Enterprise Centre and the HOMELandS Research Centre at the University of Westminster, invites the public to look closely at the often-hidden lives of immigrant food entrepreneurs in London. Through oral histories, memories and everyday business, it explores how entrepreneurship becomes more than a means of survival. It is a way to build belonging, community, and city’s cultural and economic fabrics. We hope The Gaze brings more conversations around visibility, social integration, and the vital role of migrant entrepreneurship in shaping the city we work, study, live, and share.

The event is open to the public and free to attend. However, registration is essential.

The event is part of a knowledge exchange project, "Invisible Immigrant Food Entrepreneurs", funded by Middlesex University’s Higher Education Innovation Fund (2024–25).
