Tengo daram (ᱛᱮᱸᱜᱳ ᱫᱟᱨᱟᱢ)

Date 24 June 2026

End Date 27 June 2026

Time 10am - 6pm
Location 309 Regent Street

Tengo daram (ᱛᱮᱸᱜᱳ ᱫᱟᱨᱟᱢ) - "to stand firm" in Santhali - evokes the resolute resistance of India's Adivasi communities against the erasure of their autonomy and knowledge systems.

Responding to the global trend of turning towards "Indigenous Knowledge" for solutions to the Planetary Health crisis, Teṅgo daram (ᱛᱮᱸᱜᱳ ᱫᱟᱨᱟᱢ) reminds us that without confronting the structural injustices f the global economy, Indigenous Knowledge can only speak back in fragments. Its transformative potential remains contrained by the hegemonic systems that have historically rendered them as labouring subjects.

The historical experiences and knowledge traditions of four Adivasi communities in India - Santal, Ho, Paniya and Irula form the core of this exhibition. Their stories, songs, artefacts and artistic expressions unerase their histories- rotting and remembering who they are and how they relate with land, water, forests and with each other in and across places and temporalities.

Join us on 24 June 5-8pm for the Exhibition Inauguaration or visit the exhibition any time between 10am and 6pm on 25 and 26 June. Make sure to register as spaces are limited!
