Join us for a special screening of Seed Stories, a compelling new documentary by acclaimed directors Chitrangada Choudhury and Aniket Aga.

The Centre for the Study of Democracy (University of Westminster) and the Centre for World Environmental History (University of Sussex) are delighted to co-host an evening of powerful storytelling and critical conversation.

Set in a village in Odisha’s Eastern Ghats, Seed Stories follows barefoot ecologist Debal Deb and his team as they conserve over 1,000 endangered heirloom rice varieties in-situ. The film explores a region that remains one of the world’s last surviving biodiversity hotspots and a cradle of sophisticated Kondh adivasi agro-ecological knowledge systems—now under threat from the spread of chemical-intensive, genetically modified cotton.

Taking a worm’s-eye view of these profound shifts, Seed Stories invites audiences to reflect on a vital question: What is sustainability?

Following the screening, stay for a thought-provoking panel discussion with experts and filmmakers.
