About the event

James Cook and Jude Cook were originally musicians in the 90s indie band Flamingoes before forging separate careers as writers. James's first book Memory Songs (2018) was followed by In Her Room: How Music Helped Me Connect With My Autistic Daughter (2020). Jude's first novel Byron Easy (2013) was followed by Jacob's Advice (2020). He has also written radio plays for BBC Radio 3 and currently teaches Creative Writing at Westminster University.

On Friday 2nd February, James and Jude bring a mix of readings and songs from In Her Room to Soho Poly, an evening performance between 6-7.30pm in the recently renovated space that pioneered lunchtime theatre and has reopened with a brief to disrupt the working day with culture. Expect tunes by the Beach Boys, Beatles, REM and Flamingoes, an exploration of autism and its relationship with music, followed by a Q&A.

Tickets include a free first drink
