Welcome to Guantánamo!

Drawing on NGO reports, first-hand observations, and refugee testimonies, Christian Kobluk examines conditions in Poland's migrant detention centres following the refugee crisis at the country's eastern border. The lecture provides a critical perspective on detention, border control, and human rights in contemporary Europe.
Christian Kobluk (Polish/Burundian Essayist, Writer and Human Rights Activist) is the author of A Zone of Nonbeing: A Black Pole’s Reflections on Racism in Poland (Daraja Press, 2025), and former refugee rights advisor to Tomasz Aniśko, a member of the Polish Parliament.
