Forty Paths, Forty Migrant Stories / Cuarenta caminos book launch

Date 25 November 2025
Time 6:30 - 9pm
Location 309 Regent Street

Celebrate the launch of María Victoria Cristancho's new book, Forty Paths, Forty Migrant Stories at the University of Westminster.

You are cordially invited to join us for the book launch of María Victoria Cristancho’s Forty Paths, Forty Migrant Stories (Cuarenta caminos, cuarenta historias migrantes), organised by Latin American Studies at Westminster in collaboration with Hub on Migration, Exile, Languages and Spaces (HOMELandS) Research Centre of the University.

The event will start with a short panel discussion where María Victoria will be joined by Hugo Wong, author of America's Lost Chinese: The Rise and Fall of a Migrant Family Dream (Hurst/HKU Press), to discuss themes of motives for migration, the difficulties faced by migrants, and their experiences, and have a conversation on how to document individual and family stories of transnational migrants and share them with wider audiences beyond the academic community.

The panel discussion will be followed by a conversation on the book itself and a wine reception.

Forty Paths, Forty Migrant Stories is a heartfelt collection that celebrates resilience, memory, and the quiet strength of the human spirit. Through forty voices drawn from five years of La Tertulia del Martes, journalist María Victoria Cristancho gathers the lived experiences of Latin American migrants — people who left behind familiar skies in search of dignity, opportunity, and a place to call home.

The event is open to the public and free to attend. However, registration is required.
