Iram, who is also an alumna of the Management MA and Business Information Technology BSc Honours courses, was invited by host Rob Cohen, a 2002 alumnus of the University of Westminster Building Surveying course and Managing Director of MJ Group International.

She was joined by Real Estate Recruitment Experts Chris Porteous and Katie Hopkins for the webinar on Friday 3 July, where together they answered questions and discussed how to successfully navigate your career in the current climate.

The panel provided useful information, advice and expertise on all things careers-related, including what to do presently to enhance knowledge, skills and experience. The webinar was aimed at students, graduates, entrepreneurs and young professionals not only within Real Estate, but also any field and study.

Iram is a Careers Consultant at the University and specialises in providing 1-2-1 guidance to any student and graduate, and delivers careers management skills lectures and workshops across various modules, schools and colleges including specifically Property and Construction, Architecture, Tourism, and Computer Science. She also consults the University’s award-winning Mentoring project amongst other careers projects and is a member of the Employability Task Force at the University.

After graduating from the University, Rob Cohen went on to work for real estate company CBRE for a short time before setting up his own company in 2006 called MJ Group International for which he is the Managing Director.

Rob said: “The weekly Q&A with #askrobco is for students, entrepreneurs, future leaders, graduates, and everyone in between. Its sole purpose is to educate, motivate, and inspire! We bring on guests from all walks of life, from different professions and industries every week, who will help inspire people to execute on their goals, wishes and dreams. We are building a platform that allows hundreds of people to join every week, and eventually, bring it onto LinkedIn and YouTube live. People can ask any questions and suggest what guests they would like to see the following week. #askrobco will be a consistent source of positivity to anyone who comes across the platform.

He added: “Thanks to the University of Westminster I was given an amazing foundation to go on and build a career in the Property industry and play out some of my wishes and dreams. #askrobco allows me as an alumnus to give back to all students at the University of Westminster as well as students from all universities across the world!”

Iram said about the event: “I was delighted to be asked by Rob to be part of this special ‘Careers and HR Webinar’ alongside two industry recruitment specialists. The theme was to instil positivity and confidence in participants in the current climate and provide as much information, advice, guidance and signposting for all aspects of careers and finding work. Questions came in about job seeking strategies, CVs, career changing and decision making. It was a really brilliant webinar with a great turnout, and I admire Rob for running this in his own time every week to help young professionals and students.”
