Victorian Portrait Photographer at Work
A Victorian Portrait Photographer at Work; circa 1850

Did you know that Europe's first commercial portrait photography studio opened on the roof of our Regent Street Building exactly 180 years ago?

To celebrate this historic anniversary, we have set up a photo competition with a difference.

We want you to make a Victorian steam punk camera, from a shoe box, and use it to make a portrait!

The best ones will be exhibited in the foyer at 309 Regent Street in the Summer. There are also cash prizes to win!

We will send you a book of simple instructions, and some photographic paper.

This exciting and unusual competition is open to all University of Westminster students, so please visit our blogsite to apply for your free goody bag.

The closing date for all entries is Saturday 5 June 2021.

Find out more and take part in the competition.
