Apply to exclusive internship opportunities with the United Nations

These internships, located in exciting headquarter and country offices in Europe, Africa, Asia and Central America, are an excellent opportunity to work with a United Nations (UN) agency and gain high-level professional experience.

Internship positions at the United Nations Migration Agency (also known as the International Organization for Migration - IOM) are open to all Level 5, Level 6, and Master students at Westminster.

These opportunities are exclusive to the University of Westminster students thanks to a collaboration agreement signed between the University and the United Nations Migration Agency in 2022.

About the internships

Twelve long-term internship positions are currently available to Westminster Level 5, Level 6 and Master students at IOM offices in locations such as Costa Rica, Switzerland, Thailand and Senegal, among others. Each internship position has a specific duration, learning objectives and responsibilities - ranging from project development and knowledge management, to migration health and data analytics.

The positions are full time, and their durations range from 3-9 months depending on the specific post. The start dates can very from May to September 2026. The exact start date will be discussed between each country office and the successful candidate. The 9-month internships can also be undertaken as a year-long placement by second year undergraduate students.

Thanks to resources dedicated to outward mobility, including the Turing Fund as well as generous funding from Westminster alumnus and donor Ken Subraj, the University will finance the majority of the living expenses (accommodation and food) associated with the internships. Students from lower income backgrounds will also receive funding in support of their flight to/from their country office.
