Working as a volunteer teaching assistant is a great opportunity to observe and learn from experienced teachers and if you decide a teaching career is for you then you will also gain relevant experience for your PGCE application.
The scheme consists of 15 days (100 hours over 1-2 days per week) starting in semester 1.
Volunteering at a school will provide:
- The opportunity to observe and learn from experienced teachers
- Knowledge of the national curriculum/education system
- Evidence of your commitment
- Practical classroom-based examples that you can use at interview such as small group leading and lesson planning.
