The University of Westminster and its Westminster Menswear Archive will host the first international edition of Beams’ acclaimed Expedition Club this October at Ambika P3. The event celebrates the history and culture of classic outdoor clothing, bringing together collectors, archives, and retailers from around the world.
Curated by Shigeru Kaneko, Beams Plus chief buyer and author of Outdoor Expedition Book 99, Expedition Club London offers visitors a rare opportunity to see, handle, and learn from some of the most influential garments in outdoor design.
Highlights include:
- Shigeru Kaneko’s personal collection of rare outdoor pieces.
- A travelling display from the Outdoor Recreation Archive at Utah State University, featuring original outdoor brand catalogues.
- Vintage alpine downwear curated by Jojo Elgarice of Rag Parade Sheffield, tracing the European roots of the modern outdoor jacket.
Established in 2016, the Westminster Menswear Archive houses more than 3,000 garments, ranging from tailoring and uniforms to workwear and technical outerwear. It serves as a national resource for the study of menswear as material culture.
