The Democratic Education Network (DEN) at the University is organising the 8th Annual International Student Conference to celebrate youth innovation, global perspectives, and inclusive education in action.

The conference theme, “Inclusive Education for Global Change: Student Engagement in Sustainable Development,” allows young people to redefine education's purpose in solving current worldwide issues. Students will lead in presenting their visions for a fair and empowered world through discussions about sustainability, social justice, migration and technological transformation.

The conference represents a significant milestone for DEN because it unites student participants from Vietnam, Turkey, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and numerous other countries. The participants will establish a dynamic learning environment through their diverse knowledge base, enabling cross-border and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Portland Hall, 4-12 Little Titchfield Street, London W1W 7BY

What to expect

Inspiring Student Voices

Students will deliver impactful presentations about climate justice alongside gender equity, decolonisation, technological innovation, and race. The presented voices both question established beliefs while providing original perspectives about handling complex worldwide challenges.

Critical Conversations and Panels

Student-led dialogue during panel sessions will examine disputed development concepts while revealing system inequalities and creating new paths through critical discussion. The conference sessions aim to develop constructive disagreement while promoting creative thinking and collaborative vision development.

Collaborative Networking and Exchange

The conference enables students, faculty members, and partners to engage in meaningful dialogue while building new collaborations through cross-cultural exchanges that expand their global networks.

Art, Expression, and Cultural Knowledge

The conference will use creative exhibitions together with live poetry and storytelling sessions and student music performances to showcase how art and culture express lived experiences and preserve memories while advancing social change.

Launch of the 7th Annual DEN Book

The day's main event will introduce the new DEN Book, an annual student-driven publication that students from the University of Westminster and worldwide partner institutions co-create through writing, editing, and design work. The book demonstrates student teamwork by presenting diverse research alongside personal stories and poetic and visual artistic content, which embodies the network's essence.

Why it matters

The DEN Conference operates as a social movement rather than an academic gathering. The event promotes education, which includes inclusive practices, democratic values, and global connectivity. According to this approach, students play an active role as creators of new ideas and drivers of transformation. The gathering represents our collective dedication to listening and learning before acting together.

The 8th DEN International Student Conference welcomes students, educators, activists, and global citizens to join a memorable celebration of youth leadership and creativity at this critical global moment.
