Join us for the Athena Swan Action Planning session and help shape our next steps.
What is Athena Swan
Athena SWAN (Scientific Women's Academic Network) charter was established in 2005 by Advance Higher Education in the UK to promote gender equality in higher education and research. It now covers all disciplines and broader aspects of equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) than only gender.
The University of Westminster has informed Advance Higher Education of our commitment to the Athena Swan charter and our intention to apply for silver accreditation.
About our planning session
This session marks our next phase in the development of our Athena Swan Silver application. As we conclude our self-assessment process, we are now moving into structured action planning. The purpose of this session is to translate findings and consultation into targeted, deliverable, and measurable actions for the next five years.
Participants will:
- Contribute directly to shaping institutional priorities and interventions
- Help ensure actions are specific, proportionate, and outcome-focused
- Strengthen alignment between lived experience and strategic intent
- Support the development of a robust, credible Athena Swan submission for April draft review
The session will be facilitated in a structured format using six identified priority areas to maximise efficiency and inclusivity. Contributions will inform the draft Action Plan, which will subsequently be socialised for wider consultation in advance of final submission.
Attendance from across our student communities, academic and professional services is encouraged. Diverse perspectives will be essential to ensuring that our Action Plan is representative and effective.
If you are unable to attend but wish to contribute, please email [email protected].
