Working as a volunteer teaching assistant is a great opportunity to observe and learn from experienced teachers and if you decide a teaching career is for you then you will also gain relevant experience for your PGCE application.
The scheme consists of 15 days (100 hours over 1-2 days per week).
Volunteering at a school will provide:

Knowledge of the national curriculum/education system
Evidence of your commitment
Practical classroom-based examples that you can use at interview such as small-group leading and lesson planning
