Fredrik Klemming, Head of Education Technology at the University of Westminster, will give the keynote speech at the Chinese Higher Education Executive Forum 2016.

The event, which is hosted by Blackboard Inc and the China Association of Higher Education, is being held in Beijing on 9 April 2016. The focus of the Forum is using information technology to promote innovation and development in higher education.

In the plenary keynote speech, Fredrik will talk about e-learning in the UK as well as how Blackboard is used at the University of Westminster. The presentation will look at how the University has redesigned the Blackboard experience to make sure it caters to what students want. The ways in which the University is working towards embedding a ‘blended learning approach’ will also be discussed.

Blended learning combines virtual learning and online resources with face-to-face teaching and fundamentally changes the way teachers and students approach the learning experience. In recent years the University has greatly expanded the functionality of its virtual learning environment. Already underpinning curriculum delivery, the expanded functionality supports a strategy that places Blackboard at the centre of the student experience.

The Forum will be attended by parts of the Ministry of Education as well as representatives from most universities in China.

Speaking about being invited to speak at the conference, Fredrik said: “it’s an exciting opportunity to showcase some of the work the Education Technology team at Westminster is involved in.”

As the Head of Education Technology, Fredrik Klemming is in charge of the services underpinning blended learning, multimedia production and classroom innovation at Westminster.
