The event, hosted by the Department of Educational Technology at East China Normal University (ECNU), took place in Shanghai from 13-15 June 2016. The forum's theme was ‘Linking Learning Technologies with Learning Science’.
In his keynote speech, Fredrik talked about e-learning in the UK and how Blackboard is used at the University of Westminster. The presentation looked at how the University has redesigned the Blackboard experience to make sure it caters to what students want. Already underpinning curriculum delivery, the expanded functionality supports a strategy that places Blackboard at the centre of the student experience. The ways in which the University is working towards embedding a ‘blended learning approach’ was further discussed, alongside the Learning Futures Classroom- and FST iPad projects.
Speaking about being invited to speak at the conference, Fredrik said: “It was an exciting opportunity to showcase and promote some of the excellent education technology and blended learning initiatives we have here at Westminster.”
The forum offered opportunities to share Westminster e-learning practice with key representatives from leading institutions in China and across Asia, and contributed to the development of the educational technology discipline in the region.
The Forum was attended by parts of the Ministry of Education as well as representatives from universities in China, across Asia and Australia.
As the Head of Education Technology, Fredrik Klemming is in charge of the services underpinning blended learning, multimedia production and classroom innovation at Westminster.
