The LAS Student Excellence Awards 2023 ceremony took place on Wednesday 22 March 2023 at Westminster’s Little Titchfield Street site. The Awards go to the top Level 3, 4 and Level 5 students, as determined by exam boards over the summer.

Every year, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) organises an Excellence Awards ceremony to celebrate undergraduate students’ achievements and recognise their hard work.

In total 102 students from all four schools in LAS – Westminster Law School, the School of Humanities, the School of Life Sciences, and the School of Social Sciences - were presented with an achievement certificate by Professor Andrew Linn, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Head of College.

After the ceremony, the students, their family and friends, as well as academic colleagues, were welcomed to a reception in the historic Portland Hall in the Little Titchfield Street building.

Speaking about how it feels to have won an award, Natalie Hitman, a Level 5 Medical Sciences BSc Honours student, said: “It is such an honour and a dream come true to receive this very special award, which signifies hard work and dedication. I am very proud to represent the Medical Sciences course, knowing that my peers and I have collaborated as a team to live up to the University’s standards. We all truly deserve credit for our efforts.”

Edit Funaru, a Level 4 Human Nutrition BSc Honours student, said: “I really have no words to describe the feeling that I had when I found out that I won a Student Excellence Award. Hearing my name being called in front of everyone made me feel proud of my growth and my academic achievements. What an overwhelming experience!

“The best part of it all is the fact that the University’s teaching body takes the time and puts in the effort to celebrate and acknowledge the hard work of dedicated students. I am honoured to have had the chance to take part in such an important event.”
