Dr James Morgan, Senior Lecturer in Events at the University of Westminster, took twenty of his students to visit Event Concept, a renowned event’s management company who offer multiple services including conferences, meetings, gala dinners, award shows, private events for a host of well-known clients including the BBC, L’Oréal and ITV.
The visit enabled students to gain an insight into the working world of event production and to engage with event professionals. Dr James Morgan, who organised the visit, explained the importance of this type of visit: “Engaging with live projects and seeing how individual elements of the events industry works is crucial to the development of the student experience.
“Seeing and hearing from event professionals in their work environments is inspiring for students as well as familiarising them with the industry and individual practitioners. The site visits, as well as engaging with guest lecturers, increases the networking scope for students too.”
The Tourism and Event Management BA course offers a thorough grounding in the subject but also has a strong emphasis on skills development for the workplace and focuses on students‘ potential employment opportunities through engaging with professionals.
