‘Engagement Week’ provided events throughout the week to engage every type of student, from all disciplines, in what the university has to offer. Workshops, panels and talks were carried out to both current and potential students – with all events open to any student.
Many students crossed over from their original degree discipline to make an attempt of learning something new and engage with the campus in a way they had not before. Events included ice projection drawing (pictured), a workshop on how to create your own ‘viral video’ and tile making workshops; all of which offered the students a hands-on experience with the course the event was associated with.
Each course that is stationed on the campus carried out an engagement activity and an outreach activity with 250+ students signed up for the 42 workshops held across the campus. In a student survey, 85 per cent of the activities were rated either 9 or 10 out of 10 and all of those surveyed said they would be returning for more events in the future. The next ‘Engagement Week’ is planned to be held in early 2018.
The design work for the promotion of the week was created by Xuan Phan, Graphic Communication Design student, which was displayed across the campus.
